ARTIST STATEMENT
Rooted deeply in the heart of Detroit, my photography serves as a testament to the city's resilience and vibrant spirit. Growing up amidst narratives of urban decay, I've embarked on a creative journey to redefine Detroit's story, capturing its life and grandeur through my lens. Each image I create is imbued with the essence of my childhood memories and the boundless inspiration drawn from my hometown.
My vision transcends mere documentation; it's a celebration of Detroit's evolution and a tribute to its enduring allure. Through honest and emotionally resonant photographs, I aim to evoke a profound connection to the city, inviting viewers to see beyond its surface and embrace its inherent beauty.
Patience is my ally as I navigate Detroit's urban landscape, waiting for the perfect convergence of color, light, and motion to seize that fleeting moment of perfection. In the midst of chaos, I find serenity and beauty, channeling the essence of Detroit's soul into each frame.
Driven by my passion for both photography and community, I founded The MATI Group—a beacon of artistic collaboration and unity. For two decades, we've curated exhibitions showcasing the works of unknown and emerging artists, fostering a sense of belonging and solidarity within Detroit's artistic community. Through art, we aim to reintroduce Detroit as a cultural haven, a place to cherish with loved ones, and a beacon of growth and opportunity.
In every click of the shutter, I strive to embody the essence of Detroit—a city reborn, thriving, and endlessly inspiring. Through my photography and the collective efforts of The MATI Group, I aspire to ignite a renaissance that celebrates Detroit's past, present, and future.
